copy of the letter I just sent to Catholic Social Services trying to get
some non-identifying information regarding my sister.
RE: Obtaining Non-Identifying Information on Adoptee
My name is Peggy Haggerty and I live in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. I am trying to locate my birth sister. Here is all the information I have been able to get, itís not a lot.
Her birthname was Christine Marie Flinn born on October 23, 1965 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her birthmotherís name was Nancy Elizabeth Flinn at the time it is now Nancy Haggerty. She is my mother. In December 1965 Christine was placed with her adoptive family through Catholic Charities in Dayton, Ohio. The Agency involved in Halifax was The Home of the Guardian Angel.
We all really want to meet her. I have been searching for two years and I canít seem to get anywhere because of the birthplace being in Canada and adoption was in USA. I have heard that your agency can release some non-identifying information. I am hoping this is true because it may be my only hope.
I also would like to add medical history into her file. Cancer is prominent in our family. My grandmother and great-aunt died of breast cancer. My little sister, Kathleen, died of Neuroblastoma at age five in 1979. I was twelve years old at the time. My mother and I both suffer from migraines. I have had them since I was two.
Maybe you add into her file that I have two children, daughters, Jennifer is twelve and Hayley is 11 months old. My brother, Gerry, has a little boy, Kyle, who is 4 months old.
I look forward to hearing from you.
